Jesus, at his last meeting with his beloved disciples, at the last supper, Jesus, knowing that he was soon to be arrested, tried, condemned to death, executed and buried, assured his followers:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Have faith in God
and faith in me.
In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places;
otherwise, how could I have told you
that I was going to prepare a place for you?
I am indeed going to prepare a place for you,
and then I shall come back to take you with me,
that where I am you also may be.
You know the way that leads to where I go.” John 14:1-4
Yes Lord, the life of JN has helped us to understand your words more clearly. The memory of his life is our treasure and his gift to us.
Father Nissel: Thank you ever so much! You did so much for so many in such a gracious way. Till we meet again. Sayonara.
Homily given by Gerard Barry, S.J. at the funeral mass for John Nissel, S.J.
